Katie
Marsh has been a professional grower of dried and
fresh flowers for over thirty years as well as an
accomplished and award winning floral arranger.
Seven years ago she and her best friend
attended their first gourd show in Mount Gilead,
OH and the rest is history.
She was hooked.
Since that fateful weekend, our garden has
become a gourd patch and our home a workshop.
She has since attended gourd shows in
Kentucky, North Carolina, and Illinois.
She has shown her work at farmers markets
in Ohio and at various festivals.
Through these venues, her work has found
its way to Europe, Canada, Asia, and many states
including Hawaii.
As you visit the gallery, you will notice
that she is not restricted to one or two
disciplines, but employs many.
From carving, etching, staining, waxing,
gouging, burning, weaving, and construction,
several methods may be combined to achieve the end
piece of art.
Katie’s
passion for gourd art has rubbed off on her
husband John, who goes by the nickname “Doc”.
He enjoys making giant fishing lures and
tackle from the gourds.
Both Katie and Doc recently exhibited at
the Ohio Gourd Show in Greenville, OH, where they
took home honors for their raw gourds and art
work. Launching
this web site is but another step in their dream
of providing a show place for their work and the
starting place for others who wish to learn the
art.
